The department of Philosophy started functioning in the S. N. Sinha College after its establishment in 1970. 

Sri Ram Bilas Singh -1st lecturer , joined in 1970 as a head of the department.

Sri Surajdev Singh- 2ndlecturer, joined in 15-11-1971 and working as a head of the department till2013.    

The department of Philosophy provides excellent integrated education to students at S.N.S College. We encourage students to approach education as a life-long learning process and as an end in itself by creating a rich mentoring environment and challenging, rewarding curricula.

We emphasize the necessity for all our students to learn critical thinking skills, to read well, to write well, and to recognize the importance of reflecting on their ideas and values.

The department strongly supports diversity in curriculum and education and aims to extend that commitment to activities outside the classroom, supporting student engagement across campus and explicitly recognizing our roles as student educational advocated.
